Vestas has successfully installed the first offshore wind turbine at the Akita Noshiro Offshore Wind Project. It will be Japan’s first commercial scale offshore project.
Thirty-three V117-4.2MW™ turbines, totalling 140MW, will be installed in the port areas of Akita and Noshiro. Vestas will deliver 20 years of service and maintenance. The project will power the annual equivalent of nearly 130,000 homes once fully operational.
Through this project, Vestas, together with our customer Akita Offshore Wind Corporation, will strongly contribute to achieving Japan’s carbon neutrality target by 2050.
