Steel Cut for CMAL’s New Islay Ferry!
Planned to operate on one of the busiest service routes on the Clyde and Hebrides network, the first steel was cut on 03.10.2022 for 94.8 m long vessel NB1092 with the participation of our valuable customer CMAL.
During his speech, CMAL’s CEO Kevin Hobbs stated ‘We are pleased to be working with Cemre on the build of these vessels. CMAL has a significant investment program of 21 ferries in the next 10 years and we really hope that we can bring forward additional newbuild projects in the coming months.”
CMAL’s Director of Vessels Jim Anderson pressed the CNC (Computer Numerical Control) button and initiated the production process at the ceremony.
This eco-friendly vessel, which is expected to reduce carbon footprint, is conceptually designed by naValue and the owner’s design team for the tender process. For the design and development of this vessel, Cemre continues to cooperate with LMG Marin AS.
"Cemre Shipyard congratulates all contributing parties and wishes success to its valuable building team".
