Cochin Shipyards Limited signs pact of Rs 14 crore for 10 advanced fishing vessels

Udupi Cochin Shipyard Limited, wholly owned by Cochin Shipyards Limited (CSL), Department of Fisheries, Kerala and fishermen sign pact of Rs 14 crore for 10 advanced fishing vessels.

Dr Adeela Abdulla IAS, Director of Fisheries, Government of Kerala, Harikumar A,CEO UCSL and fishermen from Kerala signed the agreement on Jan 19, 2023.

The vessels are designed as per the standard design for deep sea fishing vessel for Pradhan Mantri Matsya Sampada Yojana. The vessels will be equipped with advanced GPS, Automatic Identification System, distress alert transmitter, fish finder and magnetic compass.

The vessel will be equipped with fishing gears such as Long Liner Winch and Gillnet Hauler. These vessels are built to provide safe and sturdy vessels in the water to enhance productivity, safety and livelihood of the fishermen community.

The vessel is of 22.7 m length and 6.4 m of breadth. The vessel can achieve a maximum speed of 8 knots while it has a capacity of 12 persons.
