Caley Ocean Systems to Supply Cable Carousel to DEME

Caley Ocean Systems, part of Pryme Group, has been awarded a contract to design, supply and commission an 8,000 tonne capacity, deck mounted cable carousel system for DEME’s high-tech cable installation vessel, the Viking Neptun.

Approached by DEME to upgrade its newly acquired DP3 installation vessel’s cable handling capacity, Caley has applied its 50 years’ experience of delivering innovative engineered solutions to develop a high performance, bespoke cable handling system. The new carousel will further increase the vessels cable handling capacity adding to the current below deck system and features a hydraulics-free loading arm, and integrated variable speed control system.

The system will be designed and manufactured at Caley’s Glasgow-based facilities in Govan and Renfrew respectively before being delivered to DEME.
